The young child starts the learning process through interaction with people and events in their immediate environment. In the analogy with a computer, we could say that people and the environment program the child consciously and subconsciously through which it manifests certain behaviors and reactions at a later age. During the development to adulthood, the child will build up its own critical and reasoning abilities. This critical reasoning ability is partly based on the information the child has stored at a younger age. This critical reasoning ability can be compared with a firewall in a computer; it will determine what is relevant and what is not and which information is important for its subconscious. The critical reasoning ability performs important functions for us. This ‘firewall’ protects from danger and will drive our sub conscience into immediate action in case of pending danger. It sends signals to our sub conscience on how to deal with emotions and events in our environment. This so called ‘firewall’ can also work against us.
The core of hypnosis is to by-pass the critical reasoning ability, whereby acceptable suggestions can be readily acknowledged by the sub conscience.
Hypnosis helps to make unconscious emotions aware and then to process and release them. Through hypnosis, emotional issues are brought into contact with the subconscious and emotional charges are released by using different hypnosis techniques. This means that your feelings and thoughts change and as a result of this your behaviour also changes. In this way you give a different twist to the process (your mind) to which your brain responds. You will behave differently and feel different as a result, and you will notice that your life will improve!
